Acadia in January

Yes, we drove north for a weekend in Acadia in January.

No, we are not crazy... well maybe just a little.

But I have to say I have really learned to love New England in the winter. The "off " season. You get trails, beaches and popular destinations all to yourself. We enjoyed some beautiful places with no crowds in sight.

One thing to keep in mind if you ever decide to take a trip up in the winter is that not every trail and part of the park is open. But to find maps to the roads and trails open in the winter head to  https://www.nps.gov/acad/index.htm

You will also find weather updates in case of a storm, etc.

Here are a few snap shots from our time there

Seal Harbor Beach

Schooner Head Overlook

Bass Harbor head light

Jordan Pond

It was cold but so worth it. If you do go on these trails. I highly recommend bringing some snow shoes.
